You have just woven the first tabby section of your piece. We are weaving upside down, from the top of the piece up to the bottom. By doing it this way, we are left with a nice, neat top to the weaving, with the loops already created using the warp threads.

Now we are going to introduce our PASSEMENTERIE (see this page). Take 2 yards (2 m) of your complementary color. I chose a peach-colored core-spun bulky yarn. Lay this in the opposite shed from the last row of tabby. Leave about 1 inch (2.5 cm) to the beginning of the row on the right side, and the rest will lie to the left, awaiting its turn after the next section of tabby.
